In the Dust of Kilimanjaro    Author:  David Western

This is a remarkable book about both the ecology of and the efforts to conserve Amboseli National Park in Kenya.  Part autobiographical and part chronological story, this book delves into both the difficult history of Amboseli's conservation as well as Western's personal efforts to understand the complexities of the ecosystem there.  Although there are some serious messages here for any conservation ecologist, the book is a fun read due to the details given about the local people and about the animal inhabitants of Amboseli.  A must have for anybody serious about understanding the parks in East Africa.
